Join The U: Member Association Application

Apply to join The U

UNTX is the governing league for community-based recreational youth football associations across North Texas. We establish league standards, coordinate scheduling and competition, support member associations, and help provide a safe, fair, and organized football experience.

UNTX does not register individual athletes. Parents and guardians register players directly through their local member association.

Applications Welcome Year-Round

Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year. UNTX reviews and votes on new-member applications only during its annual January 1–April 30 membership cycle. Applications received outside that review period will be held for the next cycle. Interested community organizations are encouraged to apply whenever they are ready so league leadership can begin the conversation, confirm requirements, and help them prepare. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Applicant associations must:

  • Apply as a complete community-based recreational youth football association—not as an individual team or a single age group—and may not operate as a select or invitation-only program.
  • Offer open, publicly available registration.
  • Be recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
  • Have operated for at least two full years.
  • Commit to fielding teams in at least five of the seven UNTX levels: 5U Flag, 6U Flag, 7U Tackle, 8U Tackle, 9U Tackle, 10U Tackle, and 11/12U Tackle.
  • Commit to adopting and enforcing UNTX age-pure eligibility rules if accepted into the league. Player division age is determined using the UIL September 1 age cutoff, and seventh-grade players are not eligible regardless of age. Applicant associations do not need to be using these rules before applying.
  • Commit to UNTX standards for safety, organization, coaching, fair competition, sportsmanship, and game-day conduct.
  • Maintain and enforce zero-tolerance policies addressing violence and illegal drug use.
  • Agree to follow UNTX bylaws, playing rules, certification requirements, scheduling procedures, and league decisions.

Program Structure and Preferred Participation

UNTX strongly prefers complete associations capable of fielding at least one team at every level. Answering “No” to the all-level commitment question does not automatically disqualify an association; overall readiness, stability, enrollment, and league fit will be considered. However, new applicant associations will not be considered unless they commit to at least five of the seven levels. Applications from an individual team will not be considered.
